I am a multimedia artist from Charlotte North Carolina.

When I was growing up my parents took me to a lot of museums. At first, my attention span was pretty low. My father (an architect) would hand me a pencil and a sketchbook and task me with drawing something I liked. I copied the forms in paintings and sketched sculptures. Eventually I began to incorporate watercolor into these sketches, much to the chagrin of museum staff who worried that I would make a mess.

I began to dive deeper into creative work at Northwest School of the Arts, through printmaking classes taught by Joshua Cornwell, and painting classes taught by Bryan Wilson. Printmaking was a great outlet for the graphic style that I preferred, which drew heavily on my interest in anime, video games, and comics.

I continued the practice of printmaking at The Evergreen State College, where I worked under master printmaker and carver Alexander McCarty as a student, a teaching assistant and a studio aide. I also experimented with animation. I began to notice the presence of nature within my work, especially the ways that humans attempt to coexist with it.

This interest led me to the science illustration program at Cal State Monterey Bay, where I dove eagerly into editorial illustration and explanatory graphics. Recently my favorite things to make have been quick doodles from life.
